Illegal Rehris & Khokas – a big time headache for Samba MSMEs

Samba, Feb 21 (KNN) Illegal ‘Khokhas and Rehris’ have given a strong headache to MSME entrepreneurs in Samba District, Jammu. Khokhas or Rehris are the make shift arrangements mainly for selling running low cost food.

The Executive Committee members of Association of Industries IGC SIDCO (regd.) held a meeting in this regard today.

“The Committee expressed concern over the functioning of illegal khokhas and rehris in IGC SIDCO Samba as unhygienic food and other eatables are being eaten by workers and other passer-by,” said Vijay Aggarwal, President, Association of Industries IGC SIDCO.

He said these rehris not only block roads but also waste from them is thrown in drains.

“This normally blocks the drains and the waste water overflows resulting in water logging at various places as there is no proper outlet and drainage,” he added.

The MSMEs have decided to approach SIDCO, Industries Minister and Forest Minister for setting up a Common Effluent Treatment Plant and also to demand for secure landfill for hazardous waste.

The meeting was attended by Vijay Aggarwal (President, AOI), Raman Jolly (Vice President), Retash Mahajan(General Secretary, AOI) among others. (KNN Bureau)
