Maharashtra MSME approaches state government for withdrawal of plastic ban

New Delhi, Apr 16 (KNN) On Maharashtra Plastic Ban, the industry body representing the small scale industries involved in production and distribution of plastic and plastic made products has approached the Maharashtra Government demanding withdrawal of plastic ban.

As industry workers are facing problems of unemployment and losses in business due to plastic ban, thus in this regard MSME Industries Association has written a letter sharing their concerns and problems related to this to Environment Minister Ramdas Kadam, President of the Association Appasaheb Shinde informed the Press.

In the letter, Industry body stated that the government has announced the plastic ban unilaterally without considering its effect on industries.

Further, they have not involved the opinions and suggestions of environmental experts and entrepreneurs while taking the decision.

They also penned down the international experiences of plastic ban, they mentioned that such ban in developed countries is executed only after 100% alternative material is made available.

The letter also highlighted on the government inefficiencies and claimed that the government has made the industry a scapegoat on pretext of implementation of international climate policies. (KNN/YV)
