Punjab Government to set up Common Facility Centre in Ludhiana

New Delhi, Feb 15 (KNN) In an attempt to modernize the MSMEs, the Centre is likely to clear Rs 15 crore for setting up Common Facility Centre (CFC) for the oil expeller and parts manufacturing industry in Ludhiana.

The land will be provided by the state government.

The facility will start its operations in a year and would benefit around 175 units.

A majority of the units in the sector are in MSME category and therefore for this purpose the industry has also formed special purpose vehicle namely “Ludhiana Oil Expeller Manufacturing Association” comprising 25 units.

The CFCs will be armed with modern machinery, testing labs, R&D centre and requisite infrastructure as per the requirement of industries.

The contribution of the oil expeller and parts manufacturing industry in Ludhiana is 80% of the total oil expeller machinery production in the country.

DPS Kharbanda, Director, Industries, Punjab, said “to modernize the MSMEs, the Punjab Government has decided to set up CFCs for 20 industrial clusters.”

Other clusters include wire drawing, tractor parts, bicycle and parts, sheet metals, hand tools in Ludhiana, metal cluster, advanced machinery cluster, IT in Mohali, auto parts, hand tools and sports in Jalandhar.
