Punjab to get knowledge city at Mohali

Mohali, Feb 3 (KNN) The Punjab government is planning to develop certain sectors of Mohali which is a commercial hub into a IT City or Knowledge City.

The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) under Punjab Regional and Planning Development Act, will soon develop a knowledge city across 1700 acres of land across Sectors 66A, 66B, 82A and 82B, according to an official notice.

It will build facilities like roads, water supply, sewerage, storm water, drainage and treated water networks, HT, LT and street lights and horticulture works like parks and roadside plantation.

Towards this, the authority has invited bids from eligible contractors to be service providers.

The city consists of residential plots, commercial establishments those including hotels, expo centre and group housing, EWS and area for setting up of various institutions.

The vision for the Greater Mohali Region is to become a globally competitive metropolis with a self-built resilience capacity to sustain the pace of economic and urban development in Punjab. (KNN/ST)
