Success of Belgaum Foundry Cluster may be replicated in Raipur

New Delhi, Nov 22 (KNN) During an industry meet held in Raipur on Monday, Belgaum industrialists proposed establishment of a foundry cluster in Chhattisgarh which could attract foundry units from all over the country.

The event was organized by the Government of Chhattisgarh and was attended by State-level delegation led by Chief Minister Raman Singh, Belgaum Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Karnataka Small Scale Industry Association, Belgaum District Small Scale Industry Association, Belgaum Foundry Cluster, and Indian Institute of Foundrymen.

During the meet, Belgaum Foundry Cluster briefly presented their current situation and future plans before the state delegates. Belgaum is a home to more than 500 foundry units and around  400 units belong to  SSI (Small Scale Industry) Category with an annual turnover of around Rs 3  to 5 Crore per unit.

Addressing the audience, Chief Minister Raman Singh said that the government had been working hard to make Chhattisgarh infrastructure hub of the country. He also said that the state had been ranked 4th for 3 years in row in ease of doing business index among 32 states and Union Territories.

He added that being a mineral rich state makes it ideal for foundery units, therefore specific cluster for priority sectors such as Engineering, IT &ITES, Electronics, Food Processing etc. had been set up in the state.  (KNN/AG)
