Electric Vehicles to become boon for Transport Sector: Nitin Gadkari

In an event “Charging the Drive” that held at the Niti Aayog, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari  in his addressing speech said that it’s a beginning of new historic and revolutionary era in transport sector.

He said around 7 lakh crore being spent on import of crude oil which poses a big problem for our economy and also shared his concern for pollution due to crude oil.

It’s an urgent need of an hour that import substitution, cost effective, pollution free and indigenous measures will be taken in that direction.

He said that introduction of Electric Vehicles will overcome all these challenges and laid emphasis on the use of ethanol, methanol, bio-diesel and electric based fuels which is eco friendly as well as cheaper as compared from other imported fuels like diesel and petrol and is also the future of our country.

He also encouraged the use of electric vehicles in public transport and has also announced construction 70 km electric ropeway systems from DhaulaKuan, Delhi to Manesar.

He also spoke about handling of ground issues by providing Electric Charging stations at the prevalent petrol pumps infrastructure.

He thanked Niti-Aayog for supporting and initiating this eco-friendly cause to convert all of its fleet to Electric Vehicles in next 4 months.
