Increasing Passenger amenities and improving efficiencies is required in Railways: Union Railways Minister

Government is focused on introducing world class technologies in  every aspect of country’s economy including  railways said Union Railways Minister Piyush Goyal  on Tuesday while addressing the  FICCI Event on “Bullet Train & Modernization of Indian Economy.

The minister said that all the trains would be electricity driven in coming  five years  and by doing so the railways would  save around Rs11,500 crore annually.

Speaking on technological advancement in the railways the minister said that there had not been any investment in new technologies by railways since Rajdhani in 1969, so the government had been exploring new avenues of technologies and bullet trains is one of them.

The minister also noted that the railways would stop manufacturing primitive ICF (Integral Coach Factory) coaches by June ,2018.He said that the  manufacturing of  Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches ,having better design and efficiency  had been ramped up in the Rae Bareiley factory which would replace the old ICF coaches.
