MSMEs not proactive in sharing info due to which MoMSME unable to design concrete plans: KK Jalan


Sharing concern that the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are not proactive in sharing information, KK Jalan, Secretary, Ministry of MSME said as a result the Ministry is not being able to design concrete plans for the sector.

He requested the BMOs to take this message to their MSMEs and encourage their enrolment.

Jalan was addressing at the Third Annual Award for Responsible Indian Business Member Organizations (BMOs).

The event was organized by the Foundation for MSME Clusters (FMC)  in the national capital on Friday.

Around 50 MSME associations form 15 states discussed various means for promoting ZED based growth during the event.

Promoting Start-up India, the occasion was also utilized to create a linkage between the 50 strong start ups present on that occasion with 1700 BMOs having a membership of 500,000 MSMEs. The Department of Science and Technology supported this initiative and was keen to create a market place for start-up products whose low cost and low scale products suit the needs of MSMEs.

Addressing the MSMEs, Arun Maira, Chairman FMC said that the fundamental challenge is to create both employment and value added growth through the MSME route. 

Ramesh Abhishek, Secretary, DIPP, inaugurated the event and put forth the importance of creating enabling environment to support start-ups in the country. He also mentioned various initiatives by DIPP to create growth opportunities for the MSMEs through industrial corridors, industrial parks and so on.

Abhishek requested the FMC and BMOs to support DIPP in getting MSME feedback to make robust policy strategies. 

During the event, Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) were signed between FMC and Power2SME & OYO and also between OYO and MSME BMOs to help the MSMEs get the much needed services at discounted rates.

A compendium of 15 case studies of responsible BMOs and a booklet of 50 start-up products were released by Jalan.

Sessions on digital marketing, impact of GST and various cashless methods of doing business transactions were other key highlights of the event. The event was also sponsored by SIDBI, Power2SME and Reliance Commercial Finance. (KNN Bureau)
