New Delhi, May 18 (KNN) India cannot rely on imports of electronics, given the fact that electronics are embedded into everything be it health care, smart city or consumer electronics, said Som Mittal, Chairman of Electronics and White Goods Manufacturing Committee, FICCI in an interview to KNN.

He said all the products today are driven by software and hardware.

He said this during the ongoing Taiwan Expo 2018 in the India Capital New Delhi in which FICCI is one of the partners.

India needs to work with countries like Taiwan to ensure that we get manufacturing technology and for this we want Taiwan to enter into Indian market not only to access Indian market but to use India as a base for exports, he added.

Further, Mittal said “India's current electronic policy is very supportive of this and Make in India program ties in with what Taiwan wants to do.”

He said Taiwan is the world’s capital for components and India needs components; for those components India needs support of Taiwan.

Commenting over the India’s plan of achieving 100% Electronic Vehicles (EV) by 2030, Mittal said “It is an aspirational target and we don’t see any reason why we can’t do it. For this we need to ensure that we remain consistent in executing the policies that we are laying out. (KNN/ YV)
