Experts-FMCG cos want upcoming budget to lay emphasis on increasing rural wages-ensure job creation

New Delhi, Jan 23 (KNN) With the Union Budget 2018-19 round the corner, different stakeholders including experts as well as FMCG players want the government to focus on increasing wages for rural India.

EY Tax Partner Prashan Khatore in a press interview said that the government needs to come up with policies that can ensure a steady consumption pattern.

Suggesting steps, he said reduction in personal income tax can be one such step to enable disposable income.

Also players from the FMCG industry are eyeing at creation of more jobs and reversal of slide in wages in the rural parts of the country to make sure that market demand rises.

Earlier, EY in a survey said that the government is likely to revise tax slabs and rates in the upcoming budget to bring down the tax burden on individuals.

Also the firm said that the FMCG companies are for government incentives for setting up warehousing and cold chain storage facilities.

The Union Budget is to be presented from February 1. (KNN/DA)
