New Delhi, Oct 15 (KNN) The Wholesale Price Index (WPI) for the month of September 2018 month has accelerated to 5.13% from 4.53% in previous month.

The official WPI for ‘All Commodities’ for the month of September, 2018 rose by 0.7 percent to 120.8 from 120.0 for the previous month.

The annual rate of inflation, WPI, stood at 5.13% for the month of September, 2018 as compared to 4.53% for the previous month and 3.14% during the corresponding month of the previous year.

Build up inflation rate in the financial year so far was 3.87% compared to a build-up rate of 1.50% in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Inflation for important commodities / commodity groups is indicated in Annex-1 and Annex-II.

The index for the ‘Minerals’ group rose by 9.7 percent to 135.2 from 123.2 for the previous month, and index for Crude Petroleum and Natural Gas group rose by 1.1 percent to 95.9 from 94.9 for the previous month due to higher price of natural gas (4%).

The index for manufactured products group rose by 0.6 percent to 118.5 from 117.8 for the previous month. Where, ‘Manufacture of Textiles’ group rose by 1.1 percent to 118.9, for ‘Manufacture of Leather and Related Products’ group rose by 0.4 percent to 123.0, Manufacture of Chemicals and Chemical Products’ group rose by 0.6 percent to 119.3, ‘Manufacture of Rubber and Plastics Products’ group rose by 0.4 percent to 109.6 and ‘Manufacture of Basic Metals’ group rose by 2.0 percent to 113.8.

The rate of inflation based on WPI Food Index consisting of ‘Food Articles’ from Primary Articles group and ‘Food Product’ from Manufactured Products group increased from -2.25% in August, 2018 to 0.14% in September, 2018.

For the month of July, 2018, the final Wholesale Price Index for ‘All Commodities’ stood at 119.9 as compared to 119.7 and annual rate of inflation based on final index stood at 5.27 percent as compared to 5.09 percent (provisional) respectively.
