FISME & Amazon to conduct multiple events across India to on-board SMEs on digital platform: Gopal Pillai

New Delhi, Dec 14 (KNN) The signing of MoU between Amazon and Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) will help increase the scale of reach to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) immensely, said Gopal Pillai, Director & GM, Seller Services, Amazon India.

In an interview to KNN India, Pillai said FISME is a big federation with hundreds of MSME associations as its members and it has access to about 6 crore SMEs across India.

He said FISME and Amazon would conduct multiple events to on-board SMEs associated with members of FISME and give them a faster route to join the e-commerce opportunity.

FISME, the apex body for MSME associations in the country signed a MoU with Amazon India on Thursday to provide a digital platform to MSMEs in order to help them access new markets.

The MoU was signed by Anil Bhardwaj, Secretary General of FISME and Pillai.

Stressing that e-commerce is giving a boost to the industry, Pillai said the focus will be on how to give more visibility to the products created by manufacturers.

Pointing that there are around 400 thousand plus SMEs spread across India which grow organically, Pillai said that instead of waiting for them to come or us reaching them, we partner with government and associations.

“This will be of great help in acquiring sellers and giving them opportunities to join e-commerce platform,” Pillai said.

Speaking about 16th December being marked as Small Business Day, he said that when we came to India we also said that we want to transform the way India buys and sells.

“While 400 thousand plus sellers are using our market place every single day, some of the products are unique. So, we decided to dedicate one day of the year to SMEs across India and give them more visibility and merchandising for SMEs only,” he said.

Hence, 16th December is marked as small business day, which will be the opportunity for millions of customers to show their support to SMEs by shopping their products, he said.
