CAIT demands ban on Chinese companies Huawei & ZTE from participation in 5G network

New Delhi, Aug 11 (KNN) The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) on Tuesday wrote to Union Minister for Communications Ravi Shankar Prasad seeking a ban on Chinese technology companies Huawei and ZTE from the 5G network rollout in India.

''Huawei & ZTE Corporation of China should be banned from participating in 5G network rollout in India. They further urged that technology and equipment of both Huawei and ZTE Corporation  should be banned for use in 5G network rollout by any Company,'' CAIT National President B C Bhartia & Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal in its communication sent to Prasad.

The trader's body said that both Huawei and ZTE, the two Chinese companies have applied for participating in 5G network infrastructure to be rolled out in India soon. Considering various steps taken by the Government in month of June, we believe that such steps from the Government will pave the way for an opportunity for Indian companies to grab the opportunity to create their own software & hardware required for 5G network and will result into an Indian robust telecom infrastructure which will be beneficial for improving Country's exports and imports to a greater extent.

''On the other hand, it will play a crucial and an important key role to leverage the " vocal on local " and the " Atmnirbhar Bharat" call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.'' it added.

Acknowledging the Centre's decisions to cancel contracts with Chinese companies in various sectors including railways and highways among others, the letter signed by Praveen Khandewal, National General Secretary, CAIT, requested similar action for the upcoming 5G trials and network rollout.
