Punjab Investors' Summit will focus on MSMEs

Chandigarh, Nov 25 (KNN) The Progressive Punjab Investors Summit 2019 will focus on the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector of Punjab and on companies from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Japan.

Reportedly, the summit is to be held in Mohali on December 5 and 6. Punjab is home to over 2 lakh MSMEs and has been divided into sector-focused clusters.

The Summit will be the ideal platform to experience Punjab’s success story, and explore the numerous investment opportunities offered by the State.

Additional chief secretary, Vini Mahajan said that the event aims to highlight that Punjab houses robust MSME units in numerous sectors which can be vendors or partners of the international clients looking for ancillary units to support their global value chains.

She further said that Punjab is partnering with Japan, UAE, UK, as well as German corporates and economic ties between the UAE and India have proven to be strategic for Punjab. Building on this exchange of dialogue, many leading business groups from UAE have visited Punjab and identified business and trade opportunities.

Mahajan further informed that along with a key focus on MSMEs, we have also identified thrust sectors such as Agro and Food Processing, Healthcare, Manufacturing and Light Engineering, Plastics and Petrochemicals, Auto and Auto Components, Skill Development, and New and Renewable Energy, New Mobility, Industry 4.0, Textile, Tourism, IT/ITes and ESDM, and Startups which have potential to grow and expand in Punjab.

The Hub for the MSME sector, the State houses over two lakh registered MSMEs specializing in hi-tech auto parts, processed food products and juices, textiles, sports goods, machine tools etc, will be renewed, she said.
