CAIT to host National Retail Summit on April 18-19 in New Delhi

New Delhi, Mar 20 (KNN) The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) will organise the “National Retail Summit” on 18-19 April, 2023 in New Delhi which will be attended by prominent trade leaders of non-corporate sector from all states.

Beside trade leaders, CAIT has also invited leaders of transport, SMEs, farmers, self-help groups, women entrepreneurs, hawkers and other sectors of retail trade with an aim to forge a bigger alliance of Indian retail trade.

The summit will be chaired by CAIT National President B C Bhartia and the two days retail summit will discuss various issues of non-corporate sector including trade in different structured sessions.

“We have invited several senior Union Ministers to address the trade leaders in different sessions,” he said.

Bhartia said that besides discussing simplification of GST tax system, urgency of an e-commerce policy and a Regulator for e-commerce, a national retail trade policy, various core but critical issues will be deliberated during the two days retail summit.

It would include faster acceptance & adoption of Digital technology and digital payments by the trading community in order to bring informal trade into formal trade, access to finance for SMEs, issues related to cyber security etc.

Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said that the retail summit will also discuss ways and means to get “One nation- One License” implemented in the Country, review of Acts and Rules governing trade, an effective pension and insurance scheme for traders.

The summit will also discuss as to how the trading community can leverage the scope of 5 trillion economy vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The delegates at the summit will also talk over applicability of proposed Mediation Bill, Food Safety & Standards Act, Competition Act and also applicability of BIS standards on different products for production of quality goods.

A special session will be held to carve out strategy for boost in exports of commodities produced by SMEs, artisans and other skilled sections of the economy.  (KNN Bureau)
