Govt procurement from MSMEs records massive jump during Jan-Oct 2020

New Delhi, Dec 31 (KNN) The central government agencies and Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) have exceeded the targets of procurement by 25%.

All Central Government Ministries/ Departments and CPSEs are required to procure 25% of their annual requirements of goods and services from MSEs including 4% from MSEs owned by SC/ST and 3% from MSEs owned by women entrepreneurs under the public procurement policy.

According to the latest communication on the issue by the Ministry of MSMEs, procurement from MSEs (as on 12th November, 2020) (during the period January, 2020 to October, 2020) is Rs. 25,068.38 crore which is 33.30% of total procurement.

“We have over achieved the target minimum of 25 percent, as set in November, 2018.”, the communication states.

The total number of MSEs participating in Government purchases stands at 1,14,424.

Ministry  keeps a constant watch on the procurement performance of procurement under the Public Procurement Policy from MSEs 2012.

The performance of GeM- Government e-Marketplace, portal also has reported satisfactory.

The Registration of Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) on GeM as on 03.12.2020: 3,47,497.

Further, 57.60 % of orders value on GeM portal is from MSEs.

GeM and TReDS platforms have been integrated to pave for timely payment of dues of MSMes.
