Govt should introduce mechanism to ensure price stability of raw materials to help MSMEs: NSIC

Coimbatore, Sep 19 (KNN) The Central government must introduce a mechansim to ensure price stability of raw materials to help Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), said P. Udayakumar, Director Planning and Marketing,  NSIC.

He was speaking at the inauguration of Raw Mat India 2019, a three-day exhibition of raw materials organised by the Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (Codissia).

He said “The price of raw materials is dynamic. A mechanism to ensure its price stability for a particular period would help the MSMEs become competitive in the market."

He further added that NSIC would soon introduce aggregated services involving various players such as manufacturers, machineries and logistics.

R Panneerselvam, Principal Director of MSME Technology Development Centre, Process and Product Development Centre, said there was no considerable support for raw materials from the Central government.

Noting the speed of technological advancements, he suggested conducting exhibitions for raw materials at least every six months to keep up with the changing needs of various sectors.

He also briefly explained the Central government schemes such as Zero Defect and Zero Effect and Digital MSME and Lean Manufacturing for the MSMEs.

Lean manufacturing is not a choice. With so much of scope for improving operational efficiency by eliminating waste and by minimising the non-value added activities, it's imperative for small and medium businesses. Lean thinking helps these business leaders to focus on problems which are in their control rather than worrying about the external problems which are not in their control.
