New Delhi, Oct 15 (KNN) Micro industries sector have huge potential to create employment opportunities for the educated unemployed youth of Srinagar, said B B Vyas, advisor to the Governor of J&K while speaking at the Board of Directors (BoD) Meeting of J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board (JKKVIB).

Vyas also directed the micro industry to extend handholding support to the educated unemployed youth of the state, so that they can avail benefits from various schemes being implemented under the purview of Khadi and Village Industries sector.

He quoted, “Micro industries sector is a vibrant sector and has potential to generate employment opportunities, and hence youth of the state must come forward to avail the benefits.”

He also explained that JKKVIB has also been designated as the Nodal Agency in J&K. This is done as JKKVIB has implemented National Scheduled Caste Scheduled Tribe Hub (NSSH) scheme, which is an initiative of the Government of India to develop a supportive ecosystem to focus on the growth of SCST MSMEs.

“The state government has set a target for the establishment of 1,500 village industries units involving Margin Money of Rs 50 crores, thereby creating employment opportunities for 9,000 educated unemployed youth in the age group of 18-40 years,” he said.

He also mentioned that under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), JKKVIB has successfully established 1,287 units, involving Margin Money of Rs 2512.18 lacs during the current financial year against the target of 797 units involving Margin Money of Rs 1,992.50 lacs.

It was revealed that 10 clusters have been approved under Scheme of Funds for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI) by the Ministry of MSME, GoI.
