AV Chaturvedi takes over as charge of Director general of EPCES

New Delhi, Aug 13 (KNN) Alok Vardhan Chaturvedi, an IAS officer (Retd) and a former Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), has taken over the charge of Director General Export Promotion Council for EOUs & SEZs (EPCES) from August 2020, said Bhuvnesh Seth, Vice Chairman, EPCES.

EPCES, is a Council set up by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.

''Joining of Chaturvedi as Director General of EPCES will definitely prove to be a very good opportunity for the EOU/SEZ Community especially at this pandemic time when there are several pre and post COVID issues which are hampering the export growth of this important sector which is contributing to 1/3rd of the total national exports,'' an official statement said.

The new Director General, Chaturvedi is an MBA from University of Birmingham, UK, in Public Service (International), B.Tech from IIT Kanpur and retired as Director General of Foreign Trade in September 2019, after serving in various capacities in Government of India and State Governments viz.

Chaturvedi has wide experience in Finance, Law, Management, Sales, Marketing, Corporate Governance, Technical Operational and no doubt in Export Oriented Units and Special Economic Zones as he served as DGFT and Additional Secretary EOUSEZ in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Seth further added that he is very much confident EPCES and its members are in safe hands and Chaturvedi will definitely take up all the issues of EOUs and SEZs at appropriate level and resolve the problem being faced by the EOU/SEZ Community.
