New Delhi, June 17 (KNN) The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) wants that the new government should make procedures of filling returns under GST to more simplified for the ordinary traders.

CAIT's National Secretary Praveen Khandelwal said the government should encourage adoption and digital payments by traders and consumers.

He wants the bank charges levied on card payments transaction to be subsidized by the government directly to banks so that there is no financial load on either traders or consumers.

He suggested that the tax rate on raw materials should not to be more than the tax rate of its finished products. Moreover, there should be GST committees at District level so that traders could get representation in GST Council.

They want the Mudra scheme to be made more effective and as per original plan and declaration of PM, the NBFCs and MFIs should be roped in to disburse loans to traders and Banks should be directed to lend adequate finance to NBFCs and MFIs to augment their lending capacity. There should be a separate regulator like SEBI for Mudra as it will prove to be a game changer and business will grow leaps and bounds.

He said that the Government is stressing hard on digitalization which is a welcome move. But it’s a fact that only 35% of small businesses have so far been computerized. In such a situation it is necessary to equip the rest of the traders with computers and therefore the Govt should provide 50% subsidy to traders for purchase of computers and other allied equipment’s and balance 50% could be financed by Banks providing easy installments. This way the country’s retail trade can be upgraded and get modernized.

He also desired that in place of many licenses there should be one license for conducting any business and the procedure of yearly renewal should be abolished and the government should encourage and assist trade associations for business study tours abroad and a mechanism to be developed to provide the required infrastructure in the markets.

According to him, E-commerce is a progressive  market of future and therefore e-commerce policy should be rolled out immediately which should also be applicable on both MNCs and domestic e commerce companies. A Registration of each e-commerce player whether big or small should be mandatory and the policy should be able to create an even level playing field for all. Moreover, he wants an independent regulator for e-commerce business in India

Praveen Khandelwal also said that as promised in BJP manifesto and declaration of Prime Minister, accidental insurance to traders for Rs, 10 lakh should be rolled out immediately also the issuance of Vyapari Credit card on the pattern of Kisan Credit Card.

Traders demands should be given status of tax collector and some sort of incentives for collection of taxes on behalf of the government. CAIT has outrightly voted and supported the BJP and its allies in a consolidated vote bank and in return they want the Modi government to certainly keep up the issue of the business community on the priority of its agenda.

He just wants the government to give traders the right place in policy-making bodies and forums as about 7 crore traders are providing employment to about 30 crore people and generating an annual turnover of about 45 lakh crore. (KNN/LM)
