CAIT urges Govt to include GST in syllabus of Schools and Colleges

New Delhi, July 23 (KNN) The traders’ body, Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has urged the Government to include Goods and Service Tax (GST) into the syllabus of schools and colleges so that students get better understanding of new tax regime.

In a letter to Minister of Human Resource Development (HRD), CAIT said, “With the implementation of GST in the Country, the indirect taxation system has drastically changed whereas the studies about taxation is being imparted in School and Colleges are still based on old format of taxation system.”

The Confederation further highlighted that the Country will have future Chartered Accountants, Company Secretaries, Economists and taxation experts with no expertise and knowledge of GST fundamentals.

They will not be able to do justice with their profession and in turn would alos affect adversely the trading community who is larger dependent upon CAs for their taxation obligations, it pointed.

Concerning the matter, CAIT requested that education syllabus of 11th and 12th class and taxation part in colleges and that of CA and CS should invariably include GST taxation system as integral part of education system.

Government may open facilities centres across Country where people can be trained about format of GST taxation system, CAIT said in a letter requesting the Minister.
