FSSAI restricts any entity to register website with domain name comprising ‘FSSAI’ word or to use its name & logo

New Delhi, Jan 21 (KNN) The Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has strictly restricted the entities to register their websites using the word FSSAI on their domain names or use the food watchdog’s logo and name.

It  has  been  brought  to  the  notice  of  Food  Safety  and  Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) that a number of websites are operating with the domain name comprising the word ‘FSSAI’ along with suffix or affix ‘registration’, ‘license’, etc, FSSAI has said in a press release.

Some of such websites also use the logo of FSSAI. FSSAI is a statutory body constituted under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India Act, 2006.

FSSAI  has  not  authorized  any  entity  to  register  its  website  with  the  domain  name  comprising  the  word ‘FSSAI’ or to use its name and logo, or represent FSSAI as such. Only FSSAI’s licensing portal should be used for registration/ license application.

Pawan Agarwal, CEO, FSSAI has appealed to public to exercise care and caution while applying for FSSAI license and registration as food business operator.

The FSSAI release said, “In the event any one intends to avail the services of any such online website for registration/ license as food business operator, it is advisable that background check of such third party should be carried out with regard to authenticity or reliability of its services.”

FSSAI shall not be responsible for loss or damage suffered by the FBO on account of deficiency of services by such party.Public  is  informed  that  applications  for  FSSAI  license  or  registrationby  the  Food  Business  Operators (FBOs) can only be made at the online Food Licensing and Registration portal of FSSAI by using the link- https://foodlicensing.fssai.gov.in/index/aspx.

In case of need for any help, applicants may approach the Regional Offices of  FSSAI or jurisdictional Designated  Officer or  Food  Safety  Officer for  guidance,  details  of  which  are available at www.fssai.gov.in

FSSAI has also launched a Food Safety Mitra Scheme wherein Digital Mitras are being trained to assist FBOs for online filings related to licensing and registration, at very nominal charges. Details are available at www.fssai.gov.in/ mitra. Public is encouraged to use the services of Food Safety Mitras.
