India’s third ‘Decent Work Country Program (2018-22) to be launched on Nov 20

New Delhi, Nov 16 (KNN) International Labour Organization (ILO) Decent Work Team for South Asia and Country Office for India will launch the India’s third ‘Decent Work Country Program (DWCP) for the period 2018-2022 on November 20, 2018 at The Imperial, New Delhi.

Decent Work is a central agenda developed by the International Labour Organization (ILO) for the employed across the world.

The ILO defines Decent Work as productive work that provides equal opportunities for men and women to obtain productive work in conditions of freedom, equality, security and human dignity. This applies to both organized and unorganized workers.

In India, ILO partnered with Indian Government, employers and workers organizations in February 2010 to adopt a ‘Decent Work Country Programme' (DWCP) with an aim to improve the working conditions of Indian workers.

India’s first DWCP was launched for the period 2007-2012 and second was launched for the period 2013-2017. This will be the India’s third DWCP for the period 2018-2022.

On the occasion, there will be a special address by Ms. Tomoko Nishimoto, Assistant Director-General and Regional Direction, ILO Office for Asia and the Pacific.

DWCPs aim is to promote decent work as a key component of national development strategies.

At the same time they organise ILO knowledge, instruments, advocacy and cooperation at the service of tripartite constituents in a results-based framework to advance the Decent Work Agenda within the fields of comparative advantage of the Organization.
