Punjab laborers long vacation demand during festive season might impact production

New Delhi, Oct 18 (KNN) As festive season approaches, Punjab may face severe labour crisis as industrial laborers mostly migrants from UP, Bihar and Jharkhand would take long break from work to celebrate Diwali and Chhath.

According to Federation of Punjab Small Industries Association (FOPSIA), President, Badish Jindal said that labor crisis during this month is usual as we cannot stop migrants laborers from going back to their native place during festive season.

He said that most of the industries always make advance preparations to avoid loss during the season and sometimes they were asked to do overtime to meet the demand. Despite that, many industries suffer production losses.

However, Small Scale Industries Association, President, Surjit Singh said that most of the migrant laborers have settled down in Punjab and thus approaching festive season would not create a big impact on production as they don’t go out of the state to celebrate festivals in their native places.

They have their own property and family in Punjab and now people celebrate Chatth in Punjab also, he added.

As far as small scale industries are concerned, impact would not be much, he added.

In some cases workers have demanded extended holidays due to which their production might get affected as some industrialist raised serious concerns over this matter.

Though, no one can deny the workers from taking leave during festive season but some industrialist are trying hard to convince them by offering monetary benefits to them.
