1607 Projects Approved Under PMKSY; 1196 Operational, Says Govt

New Delhi, Feb 14 (KNN) The Government has informed the Lok Sabha that it is promoting the overall development of the food processing sector through three major schemes, Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY), Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI), and PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme (PMFME).

In a written reply, Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Ravneet Singh said the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is incentivising the setting up and expansion of food processing infrastructure across the country under these schemes.

Under PMKSY, financial assistance is provided to entrepreneurs for establishing food processing industries. The scheme is operational till 2025-26 with a total outlay of Rs 6,520 crore for the 15th Finance Commission cycle.

The PLISFPI scheme, operational from 2021-22 to 2026-27 with an outlay of Rs 10,900 crore, aims to create global food manufacturing champions and promote Indian food brands in international markets.

The PMFME scheme, with an outlay of Rs 10,000 crore and operational till 2025-26, provides financial, technical and business support for setting up and upgrading micro food processing enterprises.

As on December 31, 2025, a total of 1,607 projects have been approved under various components of PMKSY. Of these, 1,196 projects have been completed and operationalised, while 411 projects are at different stages of implementation. The ongoing projects involve a total project cost of Rs 10,983.35 crore and an approved grant of Rs 3,005.3 crore.

The Minister stated that delays in implementation are primarily due to non-receipt of statutory clearances from authorities such as Revenue, Town Planning, Electricity, Water, Pollution Control Boards and licensing agencies. Grants are released only after submission of required documents and compliance with scheme guidelines.

He clarified that there has been no overrun in the financial assistance approved by MoFPI for these projects.

To ensure timely execution, the Ministry has introduced measures including a project monitoring dashboard, regular review meetings with promoters, site visits to assess progress, coordination with banks and financial institutions for faster loan sanction and disbursement, penal provisions in cases of delayed completion, and taking up issues with State Government departments wherever required to facilitate smooth implementation.
