India Working With Global Partners For Inclusive Use Of AI, Says Union Minister

New Delhi, Mar 14 (KNN) India is advancing efforts to promote responsible and inclusive use of artificial intelligence (AI) in collaboration with global partners, the government informed the Rajya Sabha.

Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada said the government is working with international organisations, industry, academia and states to leverage Artificial Intelligence for solving real-world challenges and improving citizen services.

As part of these efforts, India hosted the India AI Impact Summit 2026 from February 16 to 21 at Bharat Mandapam. The summit, described as the largest AI gathering so far and the first of its kind held in the Global South, followed India’s co-chairing of the Paris AI Action Summit 2025.

The event brought together representatives from governments, industry, academia, civil society and startups. Participation included delegates from over 100 countries, 22 heads of state or government, and around 10 international organisations.

During the summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented India’s M.A.N.A.V Vision for Artificial Intelligence, outlining a framework for technology development aligned with societal values.

The M.A.N.A.V framework highlights principles including moral and ethical systems, accountable governance, national sovereignty, accessible and inclusive AI, and valid and legitimate systems.

The summit concluded with the AI Impact Summit Declaration, endorsed by 92 countries and international organisations, committing to the development of trusted, inclusive and human-centric AI.

The declaration emphasises democratisation of AI resources such as computing capacity, datasets and foundational tools to ensure wider participation in AI innovation, particularly among developing economies.

It also highlights the role of AI in promoting economic growth and social development, encouraging its use to address challenges in areas such as public services, scientific research and societal well-being.

Other key priorities outlined in the declaration include strengthening safeguards for secure and trustworthy AI systems, promoting international collaboration in research and innovation, improving AI literacy and skills development, and building resilient digital infrastructure to support long-term growth of the AI ecosystem.
