New Delhi, Nov 19 (KNN) As many as 10 factories have been sealed in Narela and Bawana industrial belt for open dumping and burning of waste in the region without any prior notification, Industrialist from Bawana and Narela industrial belt told KNN India.

Speaking with KNN India, Prakash Chandra Jain, Secretary General, Bawana Chamber of Industries said “This is an unnecessary harassment as nobody had given any prior notification for conducting sealing.”

Neither they informed us about the sealing for open dumping /burning of waste nor they allotted any land for the same, he added.

Also, the contractor (Bawana Infra Development Corporation) restricts the industrialist from dumping industrial waste in the small dump yards near Bawana.

He said “The system of collecting waste is very poor in the Bawana industrial belt. For 16000 industrial units there are only 12 small vehicles operational for collecting industrial waste.”

On this grave matter, he said “We are meeting today with Satyendra Jain, Minister for Industries Delhi and will discuss the all possible solutions with regard to this.”

However, Basant Somani, President of Narela Industrial Complex Welfare Association said “With regard to open dumping and burning of industrial waste announcement was made that on violation fine will be imposed but about sealing it was not mentioned anywhere.”

He said authorities sealed 2 factories in Narela and 8 in Bawana while 154 were issued notices.

As a proof, the DSIIDC which has been entrusted with the task of conducting this drive video recorded the incidences of garbage and waste burning and on that basis notices were issued, said Somani.

After this, “We have directed the industrialist not to burn any industrial waste and also instructed them to sprinkle water near your area so that harmful pollutants sits down and do not harm environment,” he added.
