Blanket ban on extraction of certain minerals in J&K hitting Cement tiles & Cement Mfg units including MSMEs

New Delhi, Feb 15, (KNN) Cement tiles & Cement manufacturing units are on the verge of closure in J&K due to blanket ban imposed by the Geology & Mining Department.

The ban was imposed on the extraction of Lime Stone, Sand & Bajri without giving breathing period to the Lime Stone mine owners & Stone Crusher Units to obtain the requisite clearance from the various Govt. agencies.

The closure because of the ban has affected the local MSMEs who earn their livelihood by extracting limestones, cement manufacturing & runs stone crushing units.

An urgent meeting of the Bari Brahmana Industries Association was held on February 14 under the Chairmanship of Presidentship of Lalit Mahajan.

Tarun Singla Sr. Vice President, Ajay Langer Vice President, Viraaj Malhotra General Secretary, Rajesh Jain Secretary and Vivek Singhal Treasurer BBIA Association and other members to discuss the issue in respect of Ban Imposed on the Extraction of Lime Stone, Sand & Bajri by Geology & Mining Department due to which the Industrial Units engaged in the Manufacturing of Cement 'files and other related Products facing acute problems.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Lime Stone, Sand and Bajri is the basic Raw Materials for the units engaged in the manufacturing of Cement, Cement Tiles and other related products facing closer due to blanket ban imposed.

The local Sons of the Soil who are earning their livelihood by extracting limestone & stone crushing units and we fear that thousands of workers engaged in the cement manufacturing units may face retrenchment in near future & due to closer of Lime Stone Mines & stone crusher resulting in all sorts of civil construction work of State/Central Govt. may suffer very badly in the near future.

It is worthwhile to mention here that the Geology & Mining Department has imposed a blanket ban on the extraction of Lime Stone, Sand & Bajri without giving breathing period to the Lime Stone mine owners & Stone Crusher Units to obtain the requisite clearance from the various Govt. agencies.

BBIA appeals to His Excellency Lt. Governor of J&K Girish Chandra Murmu to kindly intervene in the matter and issue necessary directions to Geology & Mining Department to provide at least six month period to the owners of Lime Stone mines and stone crusher units for obtaining necessary permission from the concerned authorities which will provide great relief to industrial units & the general public also.
