JCCI seeks Governor’s involvement in releasing pending payment of MSME units in state

Jammu, Apr 23 (KNN) The Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) has sought intervention of J governor Satya Pal Malik in releasing the pending payment of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) units.

In a communication to theGovernor, President of JCCI, Rakesh Gupta apprised him about the plight of MSME units in Jammu & Kasmir (J&K), highlighting how the corrupt babus were resorting to unabated corruption and working against MSMEs who are already facing lot of problems in survival in the state.

He claimed that Power Development Department (PDD) has not dispersed the payment to MSME units against the supply of various item like, Steel Tubular Poles, Power Transformer,Power cables & Power Transmission Conductors under the Central  Sponsored Saubhagya Scheme in J&K since September 2018.

He further pointed that the MSME units who have borrowed loans for various bank and financial institutions for the success of the Saubhagya Scheme are under the huge burden of debt.

The banks are pressing hard for the return of borrowed money/finance from them and the MSME units are suffering huge losses due to the interest burden, he added.

Gupta stated “The pending payments of J&K MSME units which is more than Rs 200 crore, if not released immediately will result in lot of hardships for the concerned MSME units resulting in huge losses to them and making them defaulters with banks and financial institutions”.

He requested the Governor to intervene in this matter and direct the concerned authorities to release the pending payments immediately so that the concerned MSME units can be saved from becoming sick with no fault of theirs.
