NASVI congratulates CM Kejriwal; seeks regularisation of street vendors in capital

New Delhi, Feb 19 (KNN) The National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI) on Wednesday congratulated the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on his thumping win in Delhi polls and requested him to adopt measures to regularise the street vendors in the capital by conducting their survey.

''In the third term of our Chief Minister, we request him to pay attention to the needs of the street vendors and accordingly undertake measures as stipulated in detail under the Street Vendors Act, 2014,'' said NASVI in a press release.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) manifesto has been promising since its first election which said that the street vendors would be given specified places to conduct their business, NASVI added.

''It has been a longstanding demand put forward by NASVI for the cause of the street vendors and we hope that it will be executed in this term. Despite six years after the passage of the Street Vendors Act of 2014, the vendors still waiting for their regularisation,'' said NASVI avowed.

NASVI further claim that the slow roll out of the Act affects and threatens the position of the street vendors.

The Act entails a lot about the survey, conditions/criterions, rights and duties of the vendors and establishing a dispute redressal mechanism for the vendors.

''We look forward to a proper implementation of the Act which will in turn guarantee the social security of the street vendors in the capital,'' NASVI said.
