Traders observe total commercial shutdown in Tamil Nadu’s Pollachi

Chennai, Mar 19 (KNN) Pollachi, a small town and a taluk headquarters in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu, is witnessing a total commercial shutdown and protest by traders today following the sexual abuse incident.

The shutdown is being organised by the trade unions in the town and supported by all political parties and the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) demanding a court-monitored probe in the issue.
Protests are being held by students, lawyers, traders, politicians, women etc demanding a fair and speedy investigation into a case that has sent shockwaves across the state.

Four persons -- Thirunavukkarasu, Sathish, Sabarirajan, Vasanthakumar -- all in their 20s, have been accused of sexually assaulting women in Pollachi and filming the act to blackmail them for money or for physical submission for over seven years.
