West Bengal Govt to set up more export cells across state to boost entrepreneurship

Kolkata, Aug 21 (KNN) The West Bengal Government has decided to set up more export cells across the state in order to boost entrepreneurship amongst the youth. The export cells will be managed by West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC, under the Commerce and Industries Department) and Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) Department.

The cells would create awareness and spread information about how to start own businesses and what procedures are required to be followed for that.

They will be set up at the district industry centres.

Representatives from Commerce & Industries and Departments would be there at the export cells to answer all queries from people interested in start-ups – queries on schemes, rules and regulations, loans, documentation, etc. The designated officers will be given training from time to time.

Meanwhile, during an interaction with foreign delegates at the State MSME Conclave on Monday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said, “We are going to visit Germany soon.”

Banerjee, who stressed upon the steps needed to ensure the global presence of the state’s MSME sector, interacted with the entrepreneurs from the districts and at the same time, also spoke to the foreign delegates present there.

Several exporters were also present at the business conclave held at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre.

After listening to the suggestions of the exporters, Amit Mitra, minister of the MSME and Textiles department, summed up that there is a need to establish a proper supply chain with an assurance of timely delivery of standardised quality products.

Responding to this, Mamata Banerjee agreed that a supply chain app needs to be introduced.

She has also stressed on the need for skill development programmes.
