Lucknow, Sept 22 (KNN) Lauding Uttar Pradesh's (UP) several reforms to give a boost to the industry Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Minister Sidharth Nath Singh has said that what UP thinks, other states follow.

The Minister took to the micro-blogging site twitter after the address of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at the Invest UP programme held here on Monday and said, '' 100 yrs back Shri Gopal Krishna Gokhale said “What Bengal thinks today India thinks tomorrow “. The MSME minister said apart from introducing several reforms to give a boost to the industry, UP was also the first state to introduce labour reforms, formulate sector specific policies and initiate logistical initiatives as a flatted factory model.

While commenting on the ODOP campaign, the Minister said that it has not only been appreciated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but several states have also shown a keen interest in following it to promote the MSME sector.

Reportedly, ODOP model is set to be adopted across the country.

The ODOP project recognises speciality products and handicraft of various districts and implements a programme of training, skilling and marketing to uplift the art and provide them with a market, both national and international.

Recently, in a letter to all industries ministers, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal acknowledged the potential of the programme to uplift rural India.

“To recognise the potential of rural India and align it with the clarion call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat, the ministry of commerce and industry is in the process of putting in place an institutional mechanism to propagate ODOP as a movement across the country, with the help of all state governments and union territories,” Goyal said in his letter.

Goyal said the ministry intends to drive this project on mission mode with specific targets to be achieved by 2022, when the country celebrates the 75th year of independence.

''It will be crucial to drive economic growth and uplift the rural economy,'' he said.
