ENA State 2016-08-29 11:30:13 <p><strong>Kolkata, Aug 29 (KNN)</strong> West Bengal Assembly today passed a resolution to change the name of the State to Bangla in Bengali, Bangal in Hindi and Bengal in English.</p> <p>Terming this as historic, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee greeted the people of the State.</p> <p>I am sure people will be happy with the name Bangla or Bengal. There was a need for branding for Bengal. Our intention is to make Bengal the best in the world, she said, according to a press statement.</p> <p>When asked if the new name will cause confusion with Bangladesh, CM replied: There is a Punjab in Pakistan also. There is no confusion over Bangla and Bangladesh.</p> <p>She slammed the Opposition for playing politics over the name of the State. She said, They have committed another historic blunder.
