E-way Bill system likely to be integrated with NHAI’s FASTag from April to check GST evasion

ENA Economy 2019-01-16 08:57:32 New Delhi, Jan 16 (KNN) To check Goods & Services Tax (GST) evasion, the government is planning to integrate the GST e-way bill system with the National Highways Authority of Indias (NHAIs) FASTag mechanism from April. This will help in tracking movement of goods and curb multiple trips done by transporters by generating single e-way bill. According to a media report quoting an official, the revenue department has set up an officers committee to integrate e-way bill, FASTag and DMICs Logistics Data Bank (LDB) services, after consultation with transporters. The integration of e-way bill with FASTag would help find the location of the vehicle and when and how many times it has crossed NHAIs toll plazas. FASTag is a simple to use, reloadable tag which enables automatic deduction of toll charges and lets you pass through the toll plaza without stopping for the cash transaction.
