&lt;p&gt;Every year, on 31 May, the World Health Organization (WHO) and global partners celebrate WNTD.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&#13;
&lt;p&gt;The annual campaign is an opportunity to raise awareness on the harmful and deadly effects of tobacco use and second-hand smoke exposure, and to discourage the use of tobacco in any form.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&#13;
&lt;p&gt;Its State president T. Vellaiyan, said We have requested shops not to sell tobacco products for a day. We have distributed pamphlets to shops, and are also organizing awareness events such as human chain and street play on the occasion.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&#13;
&lt;p&gt;While speaking to the reporters, Chairperson of Cancer Institute Adyar, V. Shanta urged the government to implement tobacco vendor licensing at the earliest.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
