    <fulldesc>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;New Delhi, Aug 30 (KNN)&lt;/strong&gt; The last date for filing Income Tax Returns (ITRs) for the Financial Year 2018-19 is still August 31 as the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) today clarified that the date has not been further extended.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;

&lt;p&gt;As informed earlier, August 31, 2019, will be the last date to file ITR.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&#13;
&lt;p&gt;It has come to the notice of CBDT that an order is being circulated on social media pertaining to extension of due date for filing of I-T Returns, @IncomeTaxIndia, the official handle of Income Tax department tweeted.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&#13;
&lt;p&gt; It is categorically stated that the said order is not genuine. Taxpayers are advised to file Returns within extended due date of 31.08.2019,  the handle tweeted.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&#13;
&lt;p&gt;The penalty for ITRs furnished on or before December 31 is Rs 5,000, and after that it is Rs 10,000.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&#13;
&lt;p&gt;Earlier, the deadline for filing ITR was July 31 which was extended till August 31, 2019. &lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;(KNN Bureau)&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
