New Delhi, Jul 4 (KNN) Since its outbreak, COVID-19 has not only harmed Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and economy but it has also snatched jobs & livelihood of migrants and daily wage labourers.

In order to compensate and ease the situation of the COVID hit migrants and labourers, the Delhi government has decided to launch a platform to provide jobs to them.

While speaking at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Jasmine Shah, Vice Chairman, Dialogue & Development Commission, Government of NCT of Delhi, on Friday said, the Delhi Government is going to launch a platform to give jobs to the blue collar workers in order to ease the situation of migrant and daily wage labourers.

Like any other states, Delhi's economy is facing its worst recession in many decades, the main focus of the e-Conclave was to deliberate upon how to propel Delhi's economic engine.

''Almost all sectors which are key for Delhi's economy were discussed extensively at the Conclave,'' an official statement from the CII said.

Delhi Government was also the first one to support opening up of the economy after the lockdown. The Government is planning to launch a labour matching platform online for all the job seekers and employers and will facilitate this matchup in the coming times,'' Shah asserted.

Rajeev Yaduvanshi, Principal Secretary, PWD, Government of NCT of Delhi said that Delhi has many smaller, non-polluting industries and it is commendable that most of them continued to pay wages to the workers during the lockdown.

''Delhi is a very wage sensitive city. This epidemic is not only about tackling the disease, but it has also enhanced certain other challenges that India has already been facing, Yaduvanshi added.

Taapsee Pannu, Indian Film Actress too spoke on the issue and said that there are a lot of workers who depend on weekly wages and all of us have decided to take care of them till the time the economy gets back to normal.

We all are on the same side of fighting this invisible enemy - the coronavirus together. We need to effectively lead our organizations keeping in mind that the Covid-19 will not disappear anytime soon and we need to manage our economy alongside, said Kanwal Jeet Jawa, Vice-Chairman, CII Delhi.
