ENA Sectors 2022-04-06 11:15:38 <p><strong>New Delhi, April 6 (KNN)</strong> The central government has received total 3 applications only so far to set up Semiconductor Fab units under the Semicon India Programme with a financial outlay of INR 76,000 crore.</p> <p>The applications received under the Semicon India Programme for manufacturing of chips are under examination, said Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics &amp; Information Technology in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha on Wednesday.</p> <p>Calling the Semiconductors manufacturing a complex and technology intensive sector he said that the currently India is at formative stage of developing its semiconductor supply chain ecosystem.</p> <p>The manufacturing of semiconductor chips in semiconductor fab units will depend on technology, capacity and availability of semiconductor supply chain ecosystem, the Minister said.</p> <p>Owing to Indias exceptional semiconductor design talent pool making up most of the global semiconductor design companies have set up design R&amp;D innovation centers in, the Ministry of Electronics &amp; IT revealed.</p> <p>The Minister said that the government is very focused on its important objective of building the overall semiconductor ecosystem and ensure that, it in-turn catalyses Indias rapidly expanding electronics manufacturing and innovation ecosystem. <em><strong>(KNN Bureau)</strong></em></p> 28831 https://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/sectors/rs-76000-crore-semicon-india-programme-receives-only-3-applications-to-set-up-semiconductor-fab-units 2022-04-06 11:15:38 knnindia.co.in
