GeM, MSME Ministry join forces to facilitate holistic participation of MSEs in public procurement

ENA MSME 2023-07-13 17:37:36 New Delhi, July 13 (KNN) The Government e Marketplace (GeM) and the Ministry of MSME have partnered to create awareness, advocate and mobilize capacity building of last-mile MSEs on the GeM portal. On 27 June, 2023 GeM and the Ministry of MSMEs signed a MoU to materialise this initiative. <a href="https://bit.ly/3B9mZSj"><img alt="FOLLOW US on GOOGLE NEWS" src="https://knnindia.co.in//uploads/gallery/GoogleNews.jpg" style="border-style:solid; border-width:1px; height:95px; margin:1px; width:299px" /></a> This partnership will pave the way for cluster-level interventions through sector-specific engagements driven by GeM and the Ministry of MSME through its affiliate offices, specialized institutes and statutory bodies. The core objective of this MoU is to work with MSMEs in a hub-and-spoke model where the Ministry of MSME and its affiliate offices will serve as the neighborhood GeM facility for last-mile MSE sellers, service providers, Trade Associations, and MSME organizations. Some of their mutual responsibilities are promotion of the Public Procurement Policy for Micro and Small Enterprises (PPP-MSE) to Make in India (PPP-MII) initiatives of the government to help government buyers meet the procurement targets set aside for MSEs in the Public Procurement. The MoU shall be valid for a period of 3 years, to be renewed automatically for a further period of 3 years, unless it is terminated by the parties of the MoU by 30 days written notice. GeM is a completely paperless, cashless and system driven e-market place that enables procurement of common use goods and services with minimal human interface.
