ENA Sectors 2023-08-03 16:17:11 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>New Delhi, Aug 3 (KNN)</strong> The Semicon India Future Skills Talent Committee, formed in August last year, has reported that India will need around 1.2 million workforce in semiconductor-related industries by 2032.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Formed with the aim of charting a course for India to become a hub of semiconductor talent, the committee included members from the semiconductor sector, academia, and government, revealed Minister of State Rajeev Chandrasekhar in a Lok Sabha response.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong><a href="https://bit.ly/3B9mZSj"><img alt="FOLLOW US on GOOGLE NEWS" src="https://knnindia.co.in//uploads/gallery/GoogleNews.jpg" style="border-style:solid; border-width:1px; height:95px; margin:1px; width:299px" /></a></strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">As per the committees report, India will need an additional manpower of 2,75,000 for the semiconductor chip design sector; 25,000 in semiconductor fabrication, and 29,000 in ATMP facilities, respectively, in the next decade.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Diverse disciplines such as VLSI Design and Technology, Material Science, Applied Physics, Chemical Science, Process and Industrial engineering will be part of the additional talent requirement, the report pointed out.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The Union Minister in the parliament pointed out that the government has taken an ecosystem approach and identified global standard talent development as a key requirement of this ecosystem.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">It has initiated a number of skilling and academic initiatives to develop the required capacities and capabilities in young Indians aiming for careers and opportunities in the electronics and semiconductor sector, he added.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">He added that the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has formulated curricula for UG, diploma and minor degrees in the semiconductor domain in order to meet the industrys talent requirements.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Lately, India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) has entered into MoUs with Purdue University and the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, as well as with US-based semiconductor equipment manufacturer Lam Research.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">These MoUs focus on fostering partnerships for research and development initiatives, as well as workforce training efforts. <em><strong>(KNN Bureau)</strong></em></span></p> 34328 https://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/sectors/semiconductor-workforce-in-india-expected-to-reach-12-million-by-2032-report 2023-08-03 16:17:11 knnindia.co.in
