Speaking at the stone laying ceremony for the Haat, Brig. R.K Singh (Retd.) As per reports, the Haat will offer a hostel facility to facilitate the stay of artisans and visitors alike, promoting tourism and fostering cultural exchange. Moses Chalai, Secretary North Eastern Council during his speech said NEHHDC has made good progress in the last two years. It is now focusing on developing the craft sector & building capacity of the artisanal community, which is for what NEHHDC had been created by the Government of India & not to get involved with sourcing and retailing themselves The Northeast Haat is also known as the Ashtalaxmi Haat.
