ENA Sectors 2024-06-07 17:29:23 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>New Delhi, Jun 7 (KNN)</strong> The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) headquarters, known as Metro Bhawan, located in central Delhi, has achieved carbon neutral certification on World Environment Day, according to a statement released on Wednesday.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">This milestone follows the earlier certification of the DMRC's staff quarters in Noida Sector-50 as carbon neutral.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Metro Bhawan received its certification from Earthood, a leading global company in the carbon market validation and verification.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The carbon neutral status is a significant step in DMRC's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and combating climate change.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">In line with the government's target of achieving net zero emissions by 2070, DMRC continues implementing advanced environmental practices.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Metro Bhawan effectively reduced all greenhouse gas emissions through eco-friendly initiatives like rainwater harvesting pits, sewage treatment plant, use of treated water for horticulture, water-efficient fixtures, and an organic waste converter.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Energy-efficient measures such as solar panels, energy metering systems, and energy-efficient equipment were also implemented.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">With a gold rating from the Indian Green Building Council, Metro Bhawan aims for a 5 per cent reduction in overall energy consumption next year to further decrease its energy intensity.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">DMRC is the first metro in the world to register for carbon credits with the United Nations.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">This recent certification marks another milestone in its journey towards environmental sustainability and operational excellence.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px"><em><strong>(KNN Bureau)</strong></em></span></p> 38120 https://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/sectors/delhi-metro-bhawan-achieves-carbon-neutral-certification-on-world-environment-day 2024-06-07 17:29:23 knnindia.co.in
