ENA Sectors 2024-06-24 18:00:47 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>New Delhi, Jun 24 (KNN)</strong> In a significant development for India's electric vehicle (EV) industry, Musashi Auto Parts India, a subsidiary of Japan's Musashi Seimitsu Industries, has announced the commencement of mass production of e-Axles for electric two-wheelers in the domestic market.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The company has unveiled plans to invest Rs 160 crore in its EV business during the initial phase. This investment will facilitate the establishment of new assembly lines for EV transmission components and the upgrading of existing facilities.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Musashi Auto Parts India entered the EV segment in September 2023 through a joint venture with Delta Electronics, Inc. and Toyota Tsusho Corporation, forming Musashi Delta e-Axle India Private Limited.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">According to company statements, the current production capacity stands at 10,000 e-Axles per month in phase 1, with plans to increase output by adding more production lines from the third year onwards.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Naoya Nishimura, CEO of India &amp; Africa Region, emphasised the importance of developing a local EV component ecosystem, stating, With the rapid growth of EV two-wheelers in India, the need to build a local and robust ecosystem of EV components is imperative. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The company aims to achieve a localisation level of two-thirds of the total cost by the end of the current financial year.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">This goal will be supported by the implementation of a motor assembly line and a drive unit assembly line.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Additionally, Musashi is collaborating with BNC Motors to develop products equipped with EV drive units.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">These units are slated for use in BNC's upcoming electric two-wheeler, which is expected to be equivalent to a 125cc internal combustion engine scooter.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">This development marks a significant step in the expansion of India's EV manufacturing capabilities and could potentially contribute to the growth of the country's electric two-wheeler market.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px"><em><strong>(KNN Bureau)</strong></em></span></p> 38331 https://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/sectors/musashi-commences-mass-production-of-e-axles-for-electric-two-wheelers 2024-06-24 18:00:47 knnindia.co.in
