DRDO Sanctions 7 New Projects Under Technology Development Fund Scheme

ENA Sectors 2024-07-11 16:36:35 New Delhi, Jul 11 (KNN) In a significant move towards achieving self-reliance in defence technology, the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) has sanctioned seven cutting-edge projects under its Technology Development Fund scheme. This initiative aims to bolster India's military capabilities while fostering growth in the domestic aerospace and defence sectors, with a particular focus on empowering MSMEs and startups. The diverse range of projects addresses critical areas of military technology, from advanced simulation systems to underwater drones and smart textiles. One of the key projects is the Indigenous Scenario and Sensor Simulation Toolkit, awarded to Oxygen 2 Innovation Pvt Ltd, Noida. This project will develop a simulator for pilot training in realistic scenarios, enhancing mission planning and large-scale engagement capabilities. Sagar Defence Engineering Pvt Ltd, Pune, has been tasked with creating an Underwater Launched Unmanned Aerial Vehicle. This versatile marine battlefield accessory will be designed for Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (ISR), and Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA), significantly enhancing India's naval capabilities. IROV Technologies Pvt Limited, Kochi, is working on Long-range Remotely Operated Vehicles. These dual-use systems will be capable of underwater object detection, classification, localisation, and neutralisation, providing a crucial edge in submarine warfare and maritime security. Craftlogic Labs Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru, has been awarded the project to develop an Ice Detection Sensor for Aircraft. This sensor will detect in-flight icing conditions, which is crucial for activating anti-icing mechanisms and ensuring flight safety in adverse weather conditions. Data Pattern (India) Limited, Chennai, is developing a Radar Signal Processor with Active Antenna Array Simulator. This system will enable the deployment of multiple target systems for testing short-range aerial weapon systems, a vital component in enhancing India's air defense capabilities. Accord Software & Systems Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru, has been tasked with developing an Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System-based Timing Acquisition & Dissemination System. This project aims to indigenise timing acquisition and dissemination systems using the Indian Constellation, reducing dependence on foreign satellite navigation systems. Lastly, Alohatech Private Limited, Coimbatore, will work on Graphene-Based Smart & E-textiles. This project involves developing conductive yarn and fabric-making processes using graphene nanomaterials for advanced nanocomposite materials-based E-textiles, potentially boosting military clothing and wearable technology. By engaging startups and MSMEs, the DRDO is not only fostering technological advancements but also contributing to the growth of India's defense industrial ecosystem.
