On Tuesday, officials from the state government, in collaboration with the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission and India Electronics and Semiconductor Association, unveiled the fourth edition of Mysuru: The Big Tech Show 2024. This event marks a significant milestone in Karnataka's journey towards technological prominence. Simultaneously, the state launched the Karnataka Electronics System Design and Manufacture (ESDM) Brand, underscoring its commitment to becoming a powerhouse in the ESDM sector. A highlight of the event was India's first-ever ESDM Tech Yatra to Mysuru, designed to showcase the city's readiness to global leaders in the industry. Over 30 companies, including tech giants like Global Foundry, Marvell, Schneider, and Bosch, sent representatives from major tech hubs such as Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Delhi to explore Mysuru's potential. IT Minister Priyank Kharge, speaking at the curtain raiser ceremony, emphasized the strategic importance of the initiative. The launch of the Karnataka ESDM brand from Mysuru is a testament to our unwavering commitment to innovation and excellence, he stated. Kharge outlined the government's vision to create an environment conducive to idea generation, investment attraction, and sustained growth in the ESDM sector. The minister also revealed ambitious plans for the Mysuru cluster, projecting the arrival of over 20 ESDM companies, including OSAT, EMS, and component warehouses. He announced upcoming investments totaling nearly Rs 600 crore from companies such as Kaynes Technologies, AT&S, Wurth Electronik, and several others. Perhaps most notably, Kharge disclosed plans for a 150-acre PCB cluster, further cementing Mysuru's position as a strategic corridor for ESDM manufacturing alongside Bengaluru, which is already recognised as a global hub for design and manufacturing. This multi-pronged approach by the Karnataka government signals a clear intent to diversify and strengthen its tech industry beyond the borders of Bengaluru, potentially reshaping the ESDM landscape in India and positioning the state as a formidable player on the global stage.
