Union MSME Minister Highlights 100 Days of Government Achievements

ENA MSME 2024-09-18 15:09:44 New Delhi, Sep 18 (KNN) Union Minister for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Jitan Ram Manjhi, addressed the media today at Udyog Bhawan, New Delhi, outlining the governments achievements in the MSME sector over the past 100 days. Secretary MSME, S.C.L. Das, and senior ministry officials were also present during the briefing. The Minister emphasised the pivotal role of the MSME sector in driving economic growth, employment, and entrepreneurship across the country. He highlighted the governments ongoing commitment to sustainability, innovation, and ease of doing business, as part of a broader vision to make India a global leader. Over the past 100 days, the government has implemented a range of initiatives to promote the growth of MSMEs, foster entrepreneurship, and create job opportunities. One significant achievement has been the nationwide formalisation drive aimed at bringing informal MSMEs into the formal economy. Through mass awareness campaigns and collaborations with state governments and MSME associations, over 5 crore MSMEs have now been registered on the Udyam Registration and Udyam Assist platforms. This represents a major increase from last years figure of 1.06 crore registrations, enhancing employment prospects for over 21 crore individuals across the country. Under the Prime Ministers Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), the government has approved the establishment of 26,426 new micro-enterprises in the last 100 days. Loans amounting to Rs 3,148 crore have been disbursed, which is expected to create employment for approximately 2.11 lakh people. Over the last decade, the PMEGP initiative has provided jobs to more than 55 lakh individuals by supporting new micro-enterprises in both rural and urban areas. Another key initiative is the Yashasvini Campaign, launched in June to promote women-led enterprises. Aimed at boosting women entrepreneurship, the campaign adopts a collaborative approach involving various government ministries and state governments. So far, two major events under this initiative have been held in Jaipur and Ranchi, resulting in over 4,000 Udyam registrations for women entrepreneurs. The campaign is expected to impact one lakh women this year, with further scaling planned for the future. Additionally, the MSME Ministry has approved the establishment of 14 new technology centres across various states, including Maharashtra and Jharkhand. These centres will provide advanced manufacturing technologies and skill development opportunities, significantly benefiting the MSME sector.
