ENA State 2024-09-25 14:51:16 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>Amaravati, Sep 25 (KNN)</strong> In a significant move aimed at boosting the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has approved a proposal for establishing a second MSME Technology Centre-cum-Testing Facility in the state.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The new centre, to be located in Amaravati within the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) area, is being set up by the Ministry of MSME, Government of India. This decision marks a change from the earlier approved site at the Mega Industrial Hub in Kopparthy, Kadapa district.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The state government has committed to providing 20 acres of land free of cost for the project, with the Industries &amp; Commerce Department Secretary, N. Yuvaraj, issuing a Government Order (G.O. Ms. No. 56) on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The order instructed the Commissioner of APCRDA to transfer the identified land to the Development Commissioner of MSME, New Delhi, without delay, to expedite the establishment of the new technology centre.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The project had its origins in 2019, when the Government of India approved a proposal to set up the MSME Technology Centre in Guntur, based on the availability of land in the district.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">However, as Yuvaraj explained, the land initially identified for the project became unavailable due to the states Navaratnalu-Pedalandariki Illu Scheme, which repurposed the land for housing.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Subsequently, the Andhra Pradesh government requested the Ministry of MSME to approve a new location in Kopparthy, Kadapa district, for the technology centre, with an estimated project cost of Rs 250 crore.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">This request was approved, with 19.5 acres of land in the Mega Industrial Hub allocated for the centre.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">However, the government has now shifted the location once again, choosing Amaravati within the CRDA region as the site for the second MSME Technology Centre-cum-Testing Facility.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">This decision reflects the governments strategic focus on enhancing industrial infrastructure in the state's capital region.
