CII Trichy To Build Capacity Of 320 Micro Enterprises In 8 Tamil Nadu Districts

ENA State 2024-11-15 14:11:14 Tiruchirappalli, Nov 15 (KNN) The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Trichy zone has initiated a significant capacity-building program for micro MSMEs in collaboration with CII Centre of Excellence on Employment & Livelihood (CII CEL). The two-day program, launched under the project 'Puthiya Payanam, Valarchiyai Nokki' (a new journey towards growth), aims to enhance business models of approximately 320 micro entrepreneurs from eight districts, including Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, and Trichy. Selected participants, comprising top vendors of CII members, represent diverse sectors including services, manufacturing, and trade, with specific focus on engineering, manufacturing, and food industries. The initiative recognises the crucial role of micro entrepreneurs in contributing to the growth of CII Trichy members and aims to provide comprehensive support for their development. The program, conducted in Tamil, is designed to help entrepreneurs streamline their strategies and expand their business models. Through the newly established micro entrepreneur's forum, participants will receive complimentary learning and mentoring support. According to Karthikeyan M, Co-Convenor, CII TN MSME Panel, the forum will facilitate direct interaction between entrepreneurs and CII leadership, providing valuable mentorship opportunities and guidance on business challenges. The initiative also promotes peer networking, enabling entrepreneurs to exchange best practices, even among competitors within the same sector. M Ramalingam, Joint Director & General Manager, District Industries Centre (DIC), Trichy, emphasised their readiness to assist entrepreneurs in accessing financial support through various subsidies and loan schemes, along with marketing and promotional assistance. Tamil Nadu's MSME sector plays a vital role in the state's economy, contributing 30 per cent of industrial output and 45 per cent of exports. The state accounts for 15 per cent of India's MSME sector, employing approximately 14 million people. Notably, Tamil Nadu leads the nation in women entrepreneurship in the MSME sector, with over one million units operated by women entrepreneurs.
