Stalin and the DMK, has launched a new state-level initiative aimed at empowering artisans across 25 sectors, named the Kalaignar Kaivinai Thittam (KKT).</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">This scheme is designed to provide comprehensive support to artisans, promoting inclusivity and social justice, and ensuring that individuals from all communities can participate in and benefit from traditional trades.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The Kalaignar Kaivinai Thittam offers a financial assistance package, including loans of up to Rs 3 lakh, which can be repaid over a 60-month period.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">It also includes a credit guarantee of up to 90 percent under the Tamil Nadu Credit Guarantee Scheme, making it easier for artisans to access necessary funds.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Additionally, the scheme provides training and other social justice-oriented support, helping artisans hone their skills and expand their businesses.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">One of the key features of the scheme is its commitment to being caste-neutral, which sets it apart from other initiatives.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">It allows artisans from all backgrounds, regardless of their familys historical association with a trade, to apply for financial assistance.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Furthermore, the state has raised the age limit for applicants to 35 years, ensuring that individuals can choose to pursue traditional trades later in life. To be eligible, applicants need to have at least five years of experience in their craft.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The new initiative is already showing promise, with over 100 applications received as of its launch on December 12.
